Central New Brunswick is a great place to live, work and play. Housing costs are highly competitive. Shopping and services are accessible locally or in nearby urban centres like Fredericton, Woodstock or Moncton. Outdoor recreation opportunities abound, with skiing and snowmobiling in the winter and canoeing and hiking in the summer.

Public school services from kindergarten to Grade 12 are available in both French and English. The University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University are located in Fredericton. The New Brunswick Community College has campuses in Fredericton and Woodstock.

Health care services for the area is provided by the River Valley Health Authority, with 19 hospitals and health centres located in urban and rural communities throughout the St. John River Valley. It also provides home care through its Extra Mural program and operates New Brunswick's tertiary rehabilitation centre.

The Trans-Canada Highway crosses the middle of the region and includes the newly expanded four-lane section that links Fredericton and Moncton. Airline services are available through the Fredericton Airport, which has daily flights to Toronto, Montreal and Halifax.
